Smooth nostalgia is back and better than ever. The Melbourne, Australian singer-songwriter, Slow Dancer, made his New York City debut last Thursday at the Lower East Side's Rockwood Music Hall. With clear inspiration from the 70s, combining wisps of Van Morrison and Steely Dan, Slow Dancer creates an indie blues sound that oozes pure gold. After nearly 10+ performances at this year's SXSW festivities in Austin, TX, Slow Dancer continued the gigs with three independent shows across the US/UK: one in LA, the second here in NY, and then will wrap up in London this week before heading back down under. With a single gig for the entire East Coast, we're damn glad he chose New York. 

Slow Dancer's sophomore album is set to release later this year with ATO Records, and the first single "Don't Believe" has already got us wanting more. When not recording, the man behind the sound goes by Simon Okley, and we had the chance to briefly chat with his after his set. An incredibly mellow and gracious character, seemed over the moon to be traveling, playing his music, and living (what appears to be an awesome) life. We think you're going to be hearing the name Slow Dancer a lot more, very soon. So get to listening what's he's already got out, and you'll thank us later. Eight thumbs up for this guy!
